Here Comes The Sun.... And a Baby!

Trying to get pregnant can be daunting, exciting, challenging and a myriad of other emotions...

There is so much advice out there, but what are some easy tips to digest that will help you on your way?

Sun Power

Summer is a great time to get pregnant as everyone is in a better mood and <ahem> wearing slightly less clothing...! However it is also a great time to try to conceive as sunlight promotes regular ovulation, which for the majority of women who have small to great variations in their cycle can be a blessing for ovulation mathematics.

Summer Nights

The only downside of the beautiful summer and the longer evenings and lighter mornings, is that exposure to sunlight whilst trying to conceive can effect your chances of getting pregnant.

Melatonin is a hormone released in the dark. Usually associated with sleep patterns, it is also needed to protect the women's eggs from stress, necessary for fertilisation. Therefore lots of light in the evenings can negatively impact your effects trying to conceive. This also will be the same as having a nightlight or mobile device emitting light whilst you are having couple-time.

So, if you're planning to start trying for a baby this summer, make sure you get out in the sunshine (with sun protection of course!) and it might be best to invest in some blackout blinds or curtain linings for the evenings!

Good luck everyone,
