TOP QUESTIONS

*WHAT IS HAPPENING DURING COVID-19?*

Reflexologists are now able to start working again under Government guidelines. For all information on this topic please click here >>

WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?

Reflexology is the practice of applying gentle pressure to the reflexes on the hands or feet. This is to create a feeling of deep relaxation and stimulate the body's own healing processes.

WHAT CAN REFLEXOLOGY HELP TREAT?

Reflexology can be used to help a wide range of physical and emotional areas of concern. By engaging the body's healing processes Reflexology can help aid relaxation, alleviate joint pain, help establish sleep patterns, and promote wellbeing in the body's main organs.

WHAT WILL MY FIRST SESSION BE LIKE?

Your first session of Reflexology or Indian Head Massage will be slightly longer than usual - 80 minutes in duration.

Firstly, we will sit and have a discussion for 20 minutes talking through your medical history and how Reflexology can help you. Then I will invite you to sit in the reflexology chair, take off your socks, and we will lie you back to enjoy the treatment.

After the treatment I will sit you up and we will discuss findings and next steps to help you and your health.

WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR?

Please just wear comfortable clothing. For reflexology you will need to remove your socks or tights, so wearing clothing that makes this easy is advisable. Please have clean feet for the treatment.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO A TREATMENT?

You do not need to bring anything to a treatment. Towels, blankets and pillow supports are provided. If you are on any medication it may be helpful to bring this to your first session.

WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE FOR AN 'AT HOME' TREATMENT?

Having treatments in the comfort of your own home is a great way to create the most relaxing environment for you. A Reflexology chair, towels and blankets will be brought along for the treatment. If you would like to play any relaxing music or burn scents or candles to relax you, please do so.

HOW LONG ARE THE SESSIONS?

REFLEXOLOGY - The first Reflexology session is 80 minutes long and are 60 minutes long thereafter. Treatments cost £44 per session.

INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE - Indian Head Massage sessions last 30 minutes are are £31 per session.

WHEN CAN'T I HAVE A TREATMENT?

You are unfortunately unable to have a Reflexology treatment is you suffer from any of the below illnesses:

  • Cellulitis

  • Any contagious or infectious illness

  • Thrombosis or DVT

  • Anytime when under the influence of drugs or alcohol

If you suffer from a severe illness, such as cancer or an unstable heart condition, you may need a referral from you GP before treatment is commenced.

It is imperative that all medical history is given with honesty during the first consultation appointment, and this is kept confidentially between both parties.

CAN I HAVE REFLEXOLOGY IF I'M PREGNANT?

Yes, and this is one of my specialisms. Reflexology can help throughout all of pregnancy, and can ensure that the mother-to-be is relaxed and able to be supported throughout the gestational period. Reflexology can help particularly in the last trimester, and post-partum to provide hormonal and physical balance. Please do contact me with any questions on this area.

CAN BABIES OR CHILDREN HAVE REFLEXOLOGY?

Both babies and children can have reflexology from as young as a few weeks old.

Reflexology is a great tool for relaxation and physical support, especially in infants. Read more on Child and Baby Reflexology here >>

WHAT ARE THE RISKS WITH REFLEXOLOGY?

Reflexology stimulate the body's own healing processes. Therefore a treatment can only change symptom patterns, not create them. Pressure in a treatment is altered according to information given in the first appointment, which will impact how comfortable the treatment is and any after affects.

It is possible after a treatment to feel slightly tired, emotional or have an increase in bodily functions.
